Zebra shades with alternating sheer and solid bands in a bright living room

Simple Control. Custom Fit.

Not every window needs a motor. Manual shades give you the same custom fit, fabric choices and clean finish as our motorized systems, with simple, dependable operation and a lower starting cost.

West Shore Shade offers three shade styles, each with its own personality:

  • Roller shades: modern and minimal, with a single continuous fabric panel.
  • Zebra shades: layered and adjustable, with alternating sheer and solid bands.
  • Woven wood shades: organic and textured, made from natural and blended fibers.

Start with the look and function you want in the room. We'll help you choose the fabric, operating system and finishing details during your free in-home consultation.

Manual roller shades with solar screen fabric on large windows

Roller Shades: Modern & Minimal

Roller shades use a single continuous fabric panel for a clean window silhouette that works with modern, transitional and classic interiors. The same minimal look can be specified for soft daylight, solar screening or room darkening, depending on the fabric you choose.

Solar screen fabrics come in 1%, 3%, 5% and 10% openness across applicable fabric lines, making them a strong fit for sun-exposed Florida rooms and glare control. Lower percentages generally give more privacy and less view-through, while higher percentages keep more of your view. Fabric color and lighting also affect the result.

Light-filtering and translucent fabrics soften daylight and change the feel of a room while still letting natural light in. Transparency varies by fabric.

Blackout fabrics are designed to block light through the fabric itself. Light can still enter around the edges, so we pair them with the right mounting and edge details for bedrooms and media rooms.

Fabric collections include Broome, Pia, Uluru, Neroli, Thredbo, Komfort, Riviera and Sterling. Even similar shades can differ in texture, opacity, color and drape, which is why we bring real swatches to your home. You can also browse our fabrics to get started.

Zebra shades with layered sheer and solid fabric bands

Zebra Shades: Layered & Adjustable

Zebra shades use two layers of alternating sheer and solid fabric bands. Align the sheer bands for more view and daylight, or shift them so the solid bands overlap the sheer openings for more screening. The banded pattern becomes part of the room's design.

  • Layered appearance: an architectural look that suits living rooms, dining rooms, home offices and modern spaces.
  • Adjustable light: move between openness and privacy throughout the day without raising the shade.
  • Fabric families: light-filtering and dim-out zebra fabrics. Dim-out reduces light but is not full blackout.

Zebra shades can be finished with an Illusion cassette, Square cassette or Q Box on top, and European, new-style, square or triangle bottom rails. The best configuration depends on the shade size, fabric and operating system, and we walk through every option with you at your free in-home consultation.

Natural woven wood bamboo shades on tall windows

Woven Wood Shades: Organic & Textured

Woven wood shades bring natural fibers, tonal variation and a softer mood to the window. They work especially well in coastal and relaxed interiors like living rooms, breakfast nooks, dining rooms and bedrooms.

Natural fiber options include:

  • Bamboo (Beach, Reed): 100% bamboo with classic woven character.
  • Ramie (Shady): 100% ramie with a softer woven look.
  • Flax blends (Devine, Lake): 80–90% flax with bamboo, in neutral and dark shades.
  • Paper blends (Snow): 75% paper and 25% bamboo for a refined, fine weave.
  • Kenaf blends (Smokey, Silage): bamboo and kenaf blends with distinct natural texture.

Unlined woven shades show more of the natural weave but can let silhouettes and light through, especially after dark. Add a light-filtering or room-darkening liner for more privacy and light control. Roman-style folds, decorative valances and optional edge binding let you tailor the finished look.

Simple Chain or Cordless Operation

Manual chain is straightforward, everyday operation. Cord loop and clutch configurations are available, and we select the right setup for each window and current safety requirements.

Cordless operation gives a cleaner look with no hanging chain. It's available in eligible roller configurations, where width, height, fabric and cassette compatibility are checked, and on woven wood shades.

Easy Rise cordless zebra is offered on select zebra configurations, including select Illusion and Square cassette options. It features a three-stop gravity system, positioning adjustment and simpler band alignment.

Top-down / bottom-up woven wood shades cover lower sightlines while keeping a view out the upper window. System limits apply.

Want hands-free control on tall or hard-to-reach windows? The same shade styles are available motorized. See our motorized interior shades.

The Finishing Details

The headrail and bottom rail finish the look, so we match those details to the style of each room.

Roller shade top treatments: 3" or 4" flat fascia, 3" fabric-covered Illusion cassette, 3" Square cassette, 3" Q Box and Regrind valance.

Bottom finish options: fabric-insert Elite, slim bottom rail, tear-drop bottom rail, wrap-around rail and sealed hem bar. Side channels, cable guides, specialty bottom rails, larger fascias and pocket fascias are also available.

Multiple panels, one coordinated look: 2-on-1 and 3-on-1 shades share one headrail while giving each section its own panel, and side-by-side alignment keeps grouped windows consistent.

Double roller shades put two shades on one window, such as a solar screen for daytime glare and a blackout for nighttime privacy. Larger 4", 5" and 7" fascias give single and double roller installations a clean finish at the top of the window.

Built for Central Florida Living

Florida sun is intense, and some rooms need serious light control. For bedrooms, media rooms and other light-sensitive spaces, the ZeroLux blackout system uses an enclosed cassette, side channels and a bottom channel to minimize light passing around the shade. It's available with manual or motorized operation.

Every shade we install is custom-measured for your openings, not pulled off a shelf. A precise fit and the right mounting details reduce the gaps where light and heat sneak in.

Our own team handles everything from measurement to mounting. To see completed installations, browse our project gallery.

Rooms We Serve

Every room has a different job, so we match the shade to how you use the space.

Bright living rooms: a solar screen roller shade with a refined fascia cuts glare while keeping your view of the yard or pool.

Bedrooms: blackout fabric with thoughtful mounting and edge details to reduce light gaps, or ZeroLux for the most complete blackout.

Dining rooms and home offices: zebra shades for adjustable daytime light and privacy with a contemporary look.

Coastal living rooms, breakfast nooks and kitchens: woven wood shades for natural warmth, with optional liners for privacy.

Tall or hard-to-reach glass: motorized control sized to the opening is usually the better fit. See our motorized interior shades.

Frequently Asked Questions: Manual Roller, Zebra & Woven Wood Shades

What's the difference between manual and motorized shades?

Both are custom-made with the same fabric and finishing options. Manual shades operate with a chain or a cordless lift and have a lower starting cost, while motorized shades add remote, wall-switch or smart-home control. Many homeowners mix both, using manual shades on everyday windows and motorized shades on tall or hard-to-reach glass.

Which manual shade styles do you offer?

We offer roller shades for a modern, minimal look, zebra shades with alternating sheer and solid bands for adjustable light, and woven wood shades in bamboo, ramie, flax, paper and kenaf blends for natural texture.

Are cordless manual shades available?

Yes, in eligible configurations. Cordless roller shades depend on width, height, fabric and cassette compatibility. Zebra shades offer the Easy Rise cordless system on select configurations, and woven wood shades offer cordless and top-down / bottom-up options. We confirm what works for each window during your consultation.

Do zebra shades block all light?

No. Zebra shades come in light-filtering and dim-out fabrics. Dim-out reduces light but is not full blackout. For complete darkness, a blackout roller shade or the ZeroLux system is the better choice.

What does openness mean on solar screen fabrics?

Openness is how open the fabric weave is. Solar screen roller fabrics come in 1%, 3%, 5% and 10% openness. Lower percentages generally give more privacy and less view-through, while higher percentages keep more of your outdoor view. Fabric color and lighting also affect the result.

Will blackout shades make a room completely dark?

Blackout fabric blocks light through the fabric itself, but light can still enter around the edges. The right mounting details, side channels or the ZeroLux system, with its enclosed cassette and perimeter channels, help minimize those light gaps.

Can I put two shades on one window?

Yes. Double roller shades pair two fabrics on one window, such as a solar screen for daytime and a blackout for night. Larger 4", 5" and 7" fascias give the installation a clean finish at the top of the window.

Can one shade cover a wide window with several sections?

Yes. 2-on-1 and 3-on-1 shades share a single headrail for a unified look while giving each section its own panel. Side-by-side alignment keeps neighboring shades consistent across several openings.

Do woven wood shades give privacy at night?

Unlined woven wood shades show the natural weave and can let silhouettes and light through after dark. Adding a light-filtering or room-darkening liner increases privacy and light control.

How does the measuring and installation process work?

We start with a free in-home consultation, bring real fabric samples and measure every opening. Once your custom shades are made, our own crew installs them and makes sure every shade operates smoothly.
